September IPSY Beauty Bag

I received my September (MyGlam) now called IPSY Bag today.  I really enjoy getting lovely things in the mail especially beauty products that I never would go out and purchase myself unless I've tried it before.   If you won't know what IPSY is it is a monthly $10 subscription wherein a team of stylist select deluxe products and full-sized samples they love for you to try based on your initial beauty quiz.  Here's what I got for this month.

This fabulous "Smudge Brush" from London SOHO New York.  The pink brush is part of the Silk Makeup Brush collection.   It's perfect for creating that smoky eye look and for contouring eyeshadows.  The bristles are very soft and good quality as well.   Retails for $6.99 over half of my monthly subscription and I still have 5 items to go.

To go perfectly with the smudge brush mentioned above is the second item that came in my beauty bag which is the MIRABELLA eyeshadow in Semiformal.  Goes perfect with my skin tone for a "fresh" eye popping look.  Originally retails for $10.

This bright colored nail polish by Andrea's Choice from the CIRCUS collection.   It comes in this FUN container and goes on smoothly over your nails.  This is the third one I've received and I vouch for every color.  It definitely brightens up any gloomy day.

Carol's Daughter  MONOI Repairing Split End Sealer.   Haven't used this yet but will look into it in the future.

Another pink lip glow from JANE.  I can never go without lip gloss.  I'm probably addicted to this just like sushi. LOL!  This sparkle gloss in "Sparkle Pink" adds just the right about of color to your lips.  This is another great addition to my many lip gloss collection.  Retails for $9.99.

All of these came in this cute makeup bag perfect to put in your purse or tote around in your suitcase.  Now that's what a call a $10 steal!!!

What's in your makeup bag???

DIY - Halloween Tree

I love Christmas trees and lights! What I've done different this year than all the one's before was leave up my tree, but change out the decor for every holiday other than Christmas.   Here's how I did my Halloween Themed Tree.   Obviously, because I change out the decor often I do not like to spend too much money on this activity.  A lot of my items I purchase from the local Dollar Tree so that after one use I can just throw it away and not clutter up my house.

First I chose my decor.  I wanted something fun and silly not scary or bloody.  I decided to get some wire-edged decorative ribbon, a few hanging spiders, a bag of plastic rings and a few mini decorative balloons.   I got all of these items below for less than $10.

From here I just let my imagination run wild and placed all of those items on the tree.  I really liked the plastic Halloween rings because they were bright fun colors and you could place them all around the tree with just one bag (or two) if you wanted to add a few more.   Once I was done, I topped one of the balloons at the tip of the tree so it said "Happy Halloween".   Below is the finished product.

Trader Joe's Experience

I've heard so much about this Trader Joe's grocery store from people I follow on instagram, so when I heard they we're building a few here in the DFW area I was very excited.  I've seen many people take photo's of their "healthy" and "unique" grocery finds at this place that when I found out it finally opened last Friday, I had to check this place out for myself.  What really was all this hype about????

I found some time today to go to the very first DFW Trader Joe's located in Plano and to my surprise I can attest that this place in my opinion is AMAZING!   I was very shocked that at 2:30pm on a Wednesday afternoon this place was CROWDED and according to one of the ladies that was working in the produce section, "it had died down a bit".    Honestly, I have never been to a grocery store that crowded before because it looked like I was shopping for food the day before Thanksgiving.
Lines for days....

Trader Joe's is definitely different than other grocery stores because for starters it has an "old fashion island" convenient store feel to it.   The walls are all decked out in cedar planks and all the employees are wearing Hawaiian Styled Shirts which puts me in "vacation mode".   The main difference that sets Trader Joe's from any other grocery store is that they stock hard-to-find or unique items and great tasting foods for a reasonable price.

At the end of the day their motto is "great food + great prices = value".

I took a few photos of my experience there and some little things I ended up buys.

Bistro N

I went shopping this past Sunday to get out of the house and found myself back at the North Park Mall because that place is just AMAZING!!! Yes, like a lot of young professionals I am a "mini" shop-a-holic, but definitely know my limits.

I seem to always go to the same stores and one of my favorites obviously is Nordstrom's.  I was wondering the store not really looking for anything in particular and reached the third floor where a Nordstrom's little restaurant called Bistro N caught my eye.   Maybe it was because I was with my husband and the "bar" was an escape from the shopping we were doing, but needless to say that place was pretty neat. I grabbed a chair at the bar to take a break and took a few pictures below of my experience.

Full Bar

Dining Area

Check Please.....
To my surprise they also offer a full Lunch & Dinner menu.  A detailed menu is available here which features fresh and local ingredients that make gourmet food from scratch.  If your in the area or need a little break from all your shopping, skip the fast food court and I highly suggest checking out Bistro N instead.

Let's talk SHOP!

If you don't know, September marks the beginning of the Fall Shopping Season as well as the biggest month of the year for fashion!   With magazines and billboard ads show casing their new fall styles, every Fashionista is bound to know about "Fashion's Night Out".

What is Fashion's Night Out you ask? Well, Fashion’s Night Out is an unprecedented global initiative created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy during the recession, and put the fun back in shopping! In the United States, the program is a collaboration between American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company, and the City of New York.

On Thursday, September 6, 2012 come join myself and other fashion forward individuals by coming out and supporting this 4th Annual event.   There are various FNO event's going on in Dallas, the one I will be attending is FNO's at the Galleria Dallas.  They will be featuring the longest runaway in North America spanning 1/4 mile long, two runway shows produced by Runway Dive Jan Strimple (6pm & 8pm), Shopper Lounges, fun-filled cocktails, Celebrity DJ's spinning great music and ending the night with an after party!   For a complete list of individual store events go here.

So if you don't have anything planned this Thursday, grab one of your best girlfriend's and make it a Girls Night Out.   It can't get any better than this......

Pretty Packaging Always Gets Me......

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I was out and about today and just so happened to stop by my local
J. Crew store or you can visit their online store here www.jcrew.com to see what fabulousness they had.  Boy was that the wrong thing to do, because everywhere I turned there was something that caught my eye.

When I finally reached the checkout counter I couldn't help but notice this mini tiffany colored bag that said "MINIMERGENCY KIT" for J. Crew (17 Beauty & Personal Care Essentials) hmmm... I thought to  myself as I passed it to the lady at the counter.  Below is the picture of the ever-so-cute "goodie" bag that I couldn't resist in purchasing.....

Intrigued by it's packaging and supposed "17" contents inside, I had to scoop this up and see for myself.   I justified the purchase because I am going on vacation in 1 month (YAY!) and could potential need whatever was inside.  Here is what I discovered:

Can you believe ALL THIS fit in that tiny little bag?!? I'm still in awe.... Anyways, here are the details of the contents.

clear nail polish - paint 200 nails, or 20 full sets
pain reliever - ward off headaches or sore muscles
lip balm - brand new size, with over 100 applications
deodorant towelette - stay fresh for a last minute post-work date or meeting
stain remover  - lifesaver when your morning coffee misses your mouth
polish remover  - correct any smudges or nicks
safety pin - amazing how such a tiny tool can fix big problems
mending kit - complete with needle, several colors of thread and spare buttons
clear elastics - when you are desperate to pull your hair into a ponytail
breath drops - 120 drops to keep breath fresh
hair spray - 75 sprays, keep flyaways at bay
adhesive bandage - for blisters, scrapes, cuts and more
emery board - having a broken or ragged nail can be so distracting
earring backs - because erasers are for pencils
regular tampon - sleek and subtle
dental floss - keep your teeth and gums sparkling

I think I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase since I got all this for $15.   They also had a wide range of other colors and designs at the J. Crew store.  You can also see more info about this product
